delinquent

poem by zoe frenchman

By zoe frenchmanPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
you(th) are the future

fresh, innocent, carefree, ignorant,

oblivious to the truthfully arbitrary concept of time,

still a naïve, fragile delinquent,

unbeknownst that future existence could feel like a crime,

one’s pure delicacy in their beginning stages,

may reduce dramatically, beyond any doubt,

but stating total obliteration in a certain timeless of ages,

would ignite the flames of dishonesty to never burn out,

no knowledge of depth, heft, politics, or pain,

the youthful aura hadn’t yet met distain,

and these past expectations

had no limitations,

and life’s constant equations,

and complex sensations,

led to salt streams and

haunting, sheer self-doubt,

in which you scream,

wanting to phase it out.
