It's hard to delete photographs
their edges twist and bend
they flee before my cursor and
I haven't got the sense
to pin them down with sharper thoughts
a razor wire fence
instead I let them run and turn
myself to other ends
the pictures trail at a distance
not quite left behind
leaving bloody rivets in
the background of my mind
papercuts a-plenty there
they sting at gentle touch
I don't know why I keep them
if they really hurt so much
and so I throw a few away
click click click and shred
but it's hard to delete photographs
they live on in your head
