Dehydrated

When you save everyone except yourself

By Summer DreamPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

This is a poem written from a place of introspection after leaving an emotionally, mentally, and physically abusive relationship.

I’d constantly push myself to help and save others from their troubles while silently suffering. Until one day I woke up and realized I could and would save myself.

I became my own hero.

Dehydrated

I couldn’t save myself

So I saved everyone else

I poured from an empty glass

All my love and healing into you

Battered and broken

I still saved everyone else

I fell down

Picked myself back up

I poured from an empty glass

Dehydrated

Desperate to find who’ll save me

When all along it was ME
