Defenders of the Night

A Poem of Women’s Self-Defense

In the quiet hush of the evening's light,

When shadows dance and stars take flight,

There lies a strength, unseen by day,

In women who walk their own brave way.

With eyes alert and senses keen,

They tread the paths where fears are seen,

But fear, to them, is just a spark,

Igniting courage in the dark.

They learn the ways to stand and fight,

To guard their peace with all their might.

In each swift move, in every stance,

Is the story of a fierce resistance.

The knowledge passed from hand to hand,

Of strikes and holds, a force so grand,

Empowers hearts and spirits high,

To face the world and never shy.

With fists like fire and minds like steel,

They learn to trust what they can feel.

Their bodies trained, their wills refined,

In every heartbeat, strength they find.

For every woman is a warrior,

Her spirit fierce, her heart a glower.

In moments dark and times of threat,

She stands her ground, her fears forget.

Her voice, a weapon, loud and clear,

Shatters the silence, wards off fear.

"Back away!" she cries with might,

Her words a beacon in the night.

In every class and every drill,

She hones her skill, refines her will.

A kick, a punch, a swift retreat,

A dance of power, fierce and neat.

Her journey is not just for her,

But for all sisters who concur,

That safety is a sacred right,

For every woman, day and night.

In alleys dark or crowded street,

She walks with pride, no hint of defeat.

For she is armed, not just in hand,

But in the courage she commands.

Her self-defense, a silent hymn,

Of strength and hope that never dim.

A testament to all who see,

That women stand resilient, free.

For in her heart, she knows the truth,

That power lies not just in youth,

But in the wisdom she acquires,

Through every challenge, she aspires.

To be a force, unyielding, strong,

To right the world’s most grievous wrong.

Her journey is one of resolve,

A quest to see her strength evolve.

So here’s to women, brave and true,

Who learn to fight, who dare, who do.

With every step and every breath,

They stand against the threat of death.

In unity, they find their voice,

In self-defense, they make their choice.

To live with courage, free from fear,

Their strength, a legacy so clear.

So let this poem be a guide,

To every woman far and wide.

To stand up strong, to face the night,

With self-defense, their guiding light.

For in each heart, there lies a spark,

A flame that glows against the dark.

A woman's strength, a boundless sea,

Her self-defense, her liberty.
