Death and Me

A love letter to Death

By HazelPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I saw your face

Years ago

Floating ghostly

through the lives of loved ones

not yet lost

completely.

I felt your breath on my neck

As I sat and watched children play

In groups of three or four.

Before I even thought

You could be mine.

I held you closely

Enshrouding myself in your loneliness,

Excluded by their ignorance,

And loved you still.

I welcomed you with open arms

Into my heart

And there it seems you’ll stay,

As the sun sets on another day

Until we finally lay my thoughts to rest in your blistering heart of

emptiness and nothing.

It is an interesting perspective and an intriguing sentiment. I wish to ruminate on this for a time. Good stuff!
