Dear Wild One

A poem By Zara Michales

Dear Girl illustration - Original Sketch

Where did you go?

I’ll wait at the doorstep of your home

Where light drips into your honeycomb

bringing colors into view

Paint my mind in your hues.

With your sun speckles

That sprouted from yellows

they pulled you out of the shadows

into blue sea

where you bloom free

as the sky turns to pink

the Californian sun sink.

Here, you disappear

into a moon that reappears

rising on the horizon

where the violet mountains are bowing.

In God they trust,

like Lion from the fire who rose from the dust.

There,

you rest at my chest

when words are second best

so, instead

we sew these threads

In a chorus of color

sent from the mother

Look up above ya.

Soul speak

on the heartbeat,

press the repeat on.

infinity and beyond

but you stay down

earthbound

it’s here

You’re lost & found
