Dear, Patrick Mahomes JR

Samuel’s Thoughts The Blog

Humans love to see you win… Humans hate to see you win too much— Patrick Mahomes Jr. is one of the greatest football players actively playing and will arguably go down as one of the greatest football players ever, with many sports enthusiasts already giving him the nickname "baby GOAT" (greatest of all time). At the young age of 29 years old, what he has accomplished is almost unreal. Patrick joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 and has been their starter since 2018. Since becoming their starter, he has been in 7 consecutive—yes, I said it—consecutive AFC Championship game appearances. He is a two-time league MVP, a three-time Super Bowl MVP, and he has been in 5 Super Bowl appearances, with his most recent one upcoming as he faces the Philadelphia Eagles. He has 3 Super Bowl rings (2020, 2023, 2024), and if he wins this year, he will do something that has never been done in the NFL: a three-peat of championship rings. Sounds unreal, doesn’t it? But it’s real.

In the beginning of his journey, it seemed as though the world was impressed and amazed at his talent and what he has accomplished, and he became the face of the NFL. As of the past few years, he has become the villain—what changed…? Similar to Tom Brady, who in my opinion is the GOAT of football (and many others would agree 🏈), and many other athletes like Floyd Mayweather, who has an undefeated record in boxing, and Michael Jordan, who is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, one thing they all had in common was that they all won! Not just won, but won a lot! And humans have a major issue with that. Many humans think, from a social standpoint, when a person is constantly winning, it’s “unfair” and they also become “unhumble.” Whoever said people had to be humble? We all know life isn’t fair—deal with it! Some people play games to win, not for fun! And Patrick Mahomes is one of them.

Over the recent years, there have been accusations against the refs and the NFL doing things to ensure his success, but it completely hasn’t been proven. What has been proven is Mahomes’ ability to step up when it matters most and win 🏆. Greatness doesn’t come often, but when it does, it must be appreciated. As a sports fan and being a great person myself, I know when I’m witnessing greatness. I can’t wait to see how many rings Mahomes wins in his career because he is still very young and has a lot left in the tank. But if he decided to retire tomorrow, his gold jacket 🧥 in the Hall of Fame would be tailored that day.
