It is the blue slippers I wear
Those that are always held dear
This same blue slippers stay near
They remind me of my fear
A hot lash on my back
Screaming for you to come back
To hold me with your tender care
But from my reach you disappear
Even though I see you so near
Ten years down the line
It’s the same sad empty feeling
Of seeing others that you cared for
Others that are loved by their own
But here stand I, oh so alone
Why can’t you see?
Can you not hear my plea?
You grace yourself with a name, me
But you let my heart bleed
Aching for a love guaranteed
A love that should come from deep within
But I see your toil, I see your anger
From a life they took away
It makes the hate disappear
I know it’s only you and no other
I still love you, mother
