DEAR MOON,

Dear moon,

Every night, I see

you appear In the sky up above

Sometimes a half or an eighth

Sometimes a full moon of love

As you look down upon us

What do you see?

Is it pleasing to you

Or as confronting to me ?

Over the years

Things didn’t stay the same

You will have watched us

Did we pass or cause pain

Our planet is changing

Perhaps for the worse

Some creatures have gone

Or are we just cursed

The myths that we have

With regards to the moon

The full moon causes lunacy

And tidal changes, monsoon

Our waves they are guided

By the moon in the sky

Caused by your gravity

Affecting tides from up high

Our seasons are controlled

By your gravity tilt

As a result, so our harvest

can change at the hilt

I wish to impart

An important note to you above

humanity must work together

To achieve peace and love

When we landed on you

Back in 1969 from afar

The message learned by humanity

Was we worked together to reach the star

We landed and walked on the

Sea of tranquility

Searching for life or just to

Look and see

I can only hope that our planet

Can continue to grow from afar

And achieve peace and love

To reach for you and the stars

To me you are a symbol

Of Constance and permanence

Which we need in this day

In an age of eminence

And so I do thank you

Because if you were not here

Our planet would change

And we would all disappear

Lots of love,

Dawn
