Jane, if you ever cared about me, please send me a letter posthaste. I can’t do this anymore. The lies upon lies that my insane wife tells me is piling up and your silence is killing me. It’s killing me!!!

I’m just about to get up and leave her, hopefully she’ll leave me alone for good this time and not try and manipulate me into staying. I never believe her, but she’s a very charming snake, and she can pretend to be a sweet person. I know it’s mostly false.

She does not care about me. She hates who I am inside.

If you ever loved me or cared, please write me back in the same manner as before. I never ever left you, I always stayed, and I have always kept you in my heart. Don’t do this out of pity. Only out of love, if you have it for me. If you want to be with me, not if you pity me. If you want to be my friend, not if you feel sorry for this old fool of a man.

Love,

Edward

  • You write so many letters from Edward to Jane Eyre. Could you tell me more about who Jane Eyre is for you?
