Dear Divine Friend

For my best friend: Happy Birthday

By M. Z. BellePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

To reminisce is a reverie,

Woven with youthful spirit’s lace.

Velvet was our greeting;

A sacred rite of harmony.

Charmingly strange did we appear,

Children of the crescent moon.

Doe-eyed bright dreamers,

Masterpieces of hope.

Bonds came without a price,

Paired we were like honey;

Roots to Mother Earth,

Divinely kinship.

How our tree did grow,

So fast by autumn’s spell;

Branches ripe in amity,

Treasures of fellowship.

In spring did lightning strikes

Torment worlds alone.

Persistence was our medicine

No poison could divide.

Broken was my soul,

Lost to a pining heart.

Yet never did you stray,

And never did I die.

Long was such loneliness,

Blurry doubling arcs;

Timely curses were aghast —

Our roots did still prevail.

Far you crossed a champion stage,

But proudly I did watch.

Now does that same fate sing to me,

So warmly am I welcomed.

Years have passed,

Time has gone,

People do part,

And worlds will change.

Though by my side you are,

And by yours am I.

To reminisce is our reverie,

Dear divine friend.
