Deadly Dialog
Time Will Tell
When her phone rang, she answered.
"Who is this? She asked.
Just some breathing, unanswered
As a few moments passed.
"Hello," she repeated
"Is anyone there?"
"Yes, I'm here," the voice bleated
"You caught me unprepared."
She paused for a moment
The voice seemed familiar
"I've been watching your home and
I noticed something peculiar."
She took a deep breath,
and said, "Dave, is that you."
He said, "our vows were till death,
I know you know that is true."
She quickly hung up the phone
as he knocked down her door
He smiled and said, "you're alone,
it's time to even the score."
But she pulled out a surprise
he had not planned for
He looked her square in the eyes
she laid him out on the floor
Before the cops could arrive
she kneeled by him on the floor
She whispered, "I was your demise,
you can't scare me no more."
He smiled a bit, before he faded away,
and said, "Listen to me, I've got one last thing to say."
"You may have out played my play,
but the last laugh is mine; "I’ll never be too far away, I’ll be right here, in your mind ."
