Dead Leaves

Nocturne Sage

By Nocturne SagePublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Who doesn't love trees?

Personally, I prefer evergreens

The bigger the better

If I was a tree

I would hibernate during the winter

Evergreens are much more loyal to their leaves than I could ever be

My roots from my planter are gone

I am a dead evergreen if I ever was one

My leaves are dull

And my flowers don't show

I no longer bear fruit for those who hunger

If I was a tree

I would be dead from neglect

My fruit was eaten and all my flowers were plucked

If I was a tree

Is that a possibility?

I would be a stump

I'm sat on by those who cut me down

But since I loved being alive so much

And I know I'll miss the sound of birds singing to their nestlings

I hope my seeds will scatter

And they fight to grow

And they get nutrients

From all I have left in this world

Are my dead leaves
