Daydreams

Loving across the miles

At times I get lost in the clouds of the past

My mind becomes misty with fog and it seems

The world drops away from my feet til at last

I journey to mystical lands in my dreams

I lie in a meadow beside a lone tree

My head in your lap, I look up to your face

You gently enshroud me with kisses, I'm free

Unchained by your love and your infinite grace

I break the still silence, I say with a smile

"Just now I felt lonely as if you weren't here

I guess I must have been dreaming a while

I know you're still here, you'd ne'er leave me, my dear."

"Of course not," you say as you calm down my fears

"We're always together for better or worse"

You hold me so tight but I still feel your tears

Warm rain from a cloud nearly ready to burst.

"I'm sorry," I answer to soothe your heart's ache

"I really don't mean what I said, it was wrong."

"Don't worry," you say, "'cause I know we can make

Our lives very happy, two years isn't long."

Our lips seal the promise of love made to last

Two people as one both in heart and in mind

Then suddenly mists form again and flow past

My sight as the dream fades away and I'm blind

My vision returns as the mists disappear

I stand next to you on the peak of a mount

The sky is night black and the stars seem so near

The Moon high among all the worlds without count

I squeeze your warm hand, for your heat I draw close

We hug one another, embraced in our love

I say to you softly, "I don't want to boast

But beauty is yours and not theirs up above."

"You flatter me," come the sweet words as you say,

"But you are for sure much more precious to me

Than wonders below or the lands far away.

You're more than the worlds of those stars that you see."

We cling to each other and cherish the dream

That always we'll be so in love as today.

But mists come again silky gray like a cream

And rinses my mind into clouds of dull gray.

I struggle to see through the clouds once again

To find my lost love as I reach at arm's length

I stretch a bit further and harder and then

I tremble with all that remains of my strength.

At last you emerge from the clouds of my doubt

I run to your arms so ecstatic in zeal

Confused and quite puzzled my question comes out,

"So why do you feel so remarkably real?"

"I wondered the same," you reply in my ear,

"My dreams never felt quite as vivid before."

Then silence returns as it all becomes clear

We know that it's not just a dream anymore.

Tomorrow has come to reward us at last

It all seems too quick, not two years yet to me

Where has it all gone? It must have just passed

We still are together. Forever we'll be.

I hold you quite close as we sit in the winds

Of ocean untamed to behold the Sun rise

The dawn of our lives with each other begins

I see it all now as I look in your eyes.

"It's worth all the wait," as you whisper to me

"I'd do it again, if I had to, for you."

We kiss for a moment, look up, and we see

The color of sky is a heavenly blue.
