Day 2/14 - challenge 1/4
“WHAT” Writing
5 minutes – “bathroom mirror”
Distorted reflection – I wonder who looks back at me from the glass – whose green eyes are those? Whose wrinkles? Whose freckles and crooked nose? It’s not the same face from the dreams I remember 20 years ago, but she is still me. Distorted in age. Not ugly – just different. Wiser.
10 minutes – “dentist”
The drill whirs as the strong hand rests confidently on my cheek. I’ve been here many times before, but this time it hurts, despite the extra pokes of Novacain shot into my tingling nerves. Ouch! The drill whirs while I wince, not caring. Is this almost done? It is torture. When do I come back? How badly do I want nice teeth? It started with braces at 14. Now its a white crown at 52. I don’t feel like royalty, though. The drill continues to whir. I wish it would stop. I wonder if the dentist was upset when I accidentally elbowed her in the stomach? Well, at least I didn’t bite her, I guess. The Latex gloves taste bad, despite my numb jaw.
