A smiling face lights the screen
Like so many before
Three sentences, if that, to tell their story
Quiet desperation wrapped the myth of a photoshopped joy
Study the face for two seconds
Swipe left, swipe right
Is this what we have become?
YOU HAVE A NEW MATCH!
Could this be the one?
Hell, could this be A one?
Say, "Hello," and something else.
Be cute, but not too whitty (they may not get it).
Send it off, this the tenth one today.
All of the, "how are you" and "I'm doing well!"
Just as fake as everywhere else.
And then many times more.
Exchange a few lines, they just fade away
They don't want to know, "How was your day?"
If they do hang around, it is always the same
"Let's meet for coffee" is so very lame.
The beige ones are pathetic
Their life has drained away
They have no opinions
And nothing real to say
Then we meet pretentious
With their noses in the air
We should be in awe of them
Yet they make it hard to care
Some look so good on paper
When meeting face to face
It is clear they have not showered
And their odor clears the place
Some are always shouting
And some can only whisper
Conversation dies both ways
With either of these misters
Damn they are cute
The profile pic is FINE
One moment captured
Ten years ago in time
I only eat "organic"
I'm paleo, it's true
You have to make it vegan
No, I can't cook for you.
This one says they're kinky
I wonder what they dare?
I think ropes and razor blades
They say, pulling hair?
A random encounter
In the real world you see
We came face to face
Could it be destiny?
We laugh and flirt and carry on
And learn so much, so fast
Things that can't be gleaned
From the screen's protective glass
When we dare to venture out
To the real world
To have a real life
What happens could make us twirl.
