Darkness

Lost inside

By Joshua PowellPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Dark is the night and gray is the day,

And all the pretty stars have all gone away,

Not even a sliver of the moon can be seen,

Oh how I welcome the darkness like an addicted fiend,

I long that tomorrow will never come,

Because the light is the thing that I hide from,

See the light will show you the things that are wrong,

The little hidden secrets and all that is gone,

It will show imperfections and the ugliest sins,

All the darkest secrets that are hidden within,

It will shine in the rich and the poor all the same,

It will creep in the corners and the shadows it will tame,

Oh darkness how I long for you once again,

So I can hide who I am and the sickness within,

I pray for a gray and gloomy day,

So the toll to the truth I won’t have to pay
