Dandelion Dreams of the Ocean

- Beyond the sea

By Dawnxisoul393artPublished about a year ago 1 min read

As a child, I would lie

On a huge rock by the shore

Gazing at the stars in the sky

Pondering

"What lies beyond the sea?"

The teacher told us

"Beyond the sea is the ocean"

Oh, but then I wondered

"What's on the other side of the ocean?"

With a secret, dandelion-seed desire

"One day, I'll reach the other side"

I didn't expect that seed

Planted in my mind since childhood

Would take root in my heart

Urging me forward

I plucked up my courage

again and again

Tried and tried, for I heard

The distant ocean, clamoring for me

The snow-white tides

coming to me in my dreams

Seeking to solve my childhood puzzle:

"What's on the other side of the ocean?"

In the end

I sat in classes at Oxford and Cambridge

The dazzling light shining into my eyes

Penetrating deep into my brain

I finally understood -

"The other side of the ocean"

Was knowledge, the quest to know
