Damaged Roots
They still have something to offer.

The fruit beared by this tree
Some sour,
Some sweet,
Still it stands here,
Year after year‐
Damaged roots watered only by tear after tear
Despite years of drought,
Hopeless bouts
Despite all fears,
And rumors of being removed it continues to hear
These damaged roots still produce their fruit
Day after day,
It may not be all that pretty
But some still desire to see‐
This tree, is not the tallest,
Some still find shade
Under crooked branches‐
And some find comfort,
In a pile of withered leaves‐
These damaged roots,
A needed truth,
Have a purpose
To accept the rejected,
Lonely and desperate‐
The left out and put apart,
Out in the cold
For the some,
Who didn't know exactly what they were looking for‐
Told they'd never fit the mold,
Just like this tree
And still it stands here
Every year
Still bearing fruit,
Some sour and some sweet‐
Falling in place of a need
Like the damaged roots, that feed this tree
About the Creator
Josh Morgan
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
