Daily Poetry Collection Special Edition Vol. 1

This week's edition of my weekly Haiku collection about another love of mine. The Tarot. I have been in love with Tarot since seeing my very first deck around the age of 10 and have since collected many decks through the years. This week I focused each day on one of the first 7 cards of the Major Arcana. I will also switch up styles. You notice that these are not Haikus but Tanka's. Another form of Japanese poetry that follows the 5-7-5-7-7 scheme. The first two lines talk about something concrete. The third line is a pivot line that connects the two halves of the poem together, and the last two address emotions or inner reflection. Now I don't follow the concrete lines and reflection lines faithfully, but I try to include a pivot and shift with each poem.

0- The Fool:

The Valley

across the valley

mountains and forests flourish

the great river curls

I must walk away from home

carve my path through the unknown

Pathways

above the mountains

I see all paths before me

which life will I choose

stay fluid in each moment

no path is indelible

1- The Magician:

Imaginings

move with earths rhythm

craft a dance transcendent

rooted in power

my heartbeat manifesting

my imaginings take flight

Gifts

power within me

my transformation begins

ground beneath, head raised

blessings of the universe

a feast for all to partake

2- The High Priestess:

Waning Moon

‘neath the waning moon

her silence calls from the sea

I come to listen

to eat the fruit of wisdom

reveal the truth of my soul

The Void

I study my dreams

listening to my soul's depth

dive in and swim free

immerse yourself in the void

hear your ancestral wisdom

3- The Empress:

Sun Bloom

I dance in wheat fields

the sun's glow gives me my wings

my womb creates life

love fiercely like summer fires

nourish the world, watch it bloom

Creation (Clean)

be still with the earth

till its soil with your fingers

feel the fertile dirt

bear witness to my passion

from my lips, creation flows

4- The Emperor:

Dominant

I am dominant

my hand's, masters of passion

just and orderly

humanities compassion

can heal wounds or sunder lives

Master

ruler of the sky

the falcons graceful action

brings me clarity

I alone am the master

with fools, I refuse to feast

5- The Hierophant:

Wisdom

sit with dandelions

hear the wisdom of the earth

silence brings insight

I have so much still to learn

I wonder if I'm the fool

Careful

follow me to truth

my path will grant you freedom

careful who you praise

not all paths give you wisdom

not all teachers truly care

6- The Lovers:

Desire

blooming wild roses

petals spread open for the sun

bathe me in your warmth

replenished in your embrace

I follow my heart's desires

Shielded

the beauty of choice

its power helps us create

a world of passion

floating in my lover's arms

shielded from life's loneliness
