As I lie on the canvas, bloodied and bruised from my opponent, my favorite childhood song, "Ask Me in December," beckons to me from the old victrola in the corner of my heart, telling me to get up and duel once more. It's lyrics immediately breathe renewed hope and life into my spirit while successfully ignoring my pleas to retreat into the corner so that I may tend to my broken heart and badly rug-burned praying-knees.

I hadn't thought of dad's song in nearly fifteen years, but remembering the powerful lyrics of the song instantly strengthened my resolve.

My Daddy wrote the song for me many moons ago when I was a preteen who was feeling blue.

Today, my friend, let me share it with you. It empowered me when I remembered it. It just may make you feel better too!

🎶Ask Me In December🎶

Get up, Tiff. It's time to stir the pot!

Get up, Tiff, and fight for all who cannot!

Get up, Tiff. Give it all you've got!

Suit up in your warmest winter gear!

Suit up; your victory over life's wintertime blues is near!

Get up!

Get up!

Get up!

Life might feel ice cold right now, but remember, July is coming!

Ask me in December if I won the fight!

Yes! I sure did! By years end, God made things right!

Para 1: started in the spirit and voice of a story, then the 'rug-burned praying knees' got me, that was a strong sentence. Para 3: ~many moons ago, I love that it's an original line, that it didn't say what I expected it to. Para 4: I didn't expect this to rhyme, it' was such a beautiful surprise. 🎶Ask me in December 🎶 : okay, stop it, you're going to make me cry. I wasn't prepared to feel so deeply when I read this song. My relationship with my dad did not sound like this, so I appreciate this so much. Thank you for writing it Tiffany, maybe I can try calling you Tiff now if that's alright? 💕 I was reading the comments and I don't know how to ask this question in the warmest and most careful way... Your dad, is he...? ❤️

The vivid imagery and evocative language draw the reader into the character's struggle, while the introduction of the song's lyrics infuses the narrative with a sense of hope and renewed determination. The idea of the song's ability to strengthen resolve and overcome life's winter blues resonates powerfully, making this a truly inspiring and relatable piece of writing. We're very happy to read this work Tiffany, “liked" it, and hope to read more of your works, thank you very much for sharing this wonderful journey of the soul, subscribed.

This seems so real, EVERYONE missed the huge fictional poetry bit. Now i am confused if daddy wrote some and fictional wrote some. Either way...the message is sorely needed. Thanks for that.
