Daddy Mode

3 Days in a row of my youngest being sick,

Makes me realize how much I could care truly for someone.

It makes my heart hurt to see her down so I try my best to cheer her up quick,

But as a parent it feels at times like the sickness has won..

As we lay down under the warm blanket

& as she simply refuses to take it,

I can’t help but hold her close

As I try to give her another dose.

It always ends the same

With me calling her name,

But when I get no reply

I just sing her this lullaby:

“Hush little baby don’t say a word

Daddy’s gonna buy you a mocking bird

& if that mocking bird don’t sing

Daddy’s gonna buy you a diamond ring

& if that diamond don’t shine

Then just know everything is fine

I do this & more just to honor the Dad Code,

Because there’s nothing I wouldn’t do while In Daddy Mode..
