Daddy Issues

Just was a small girl

In need of a hero

Wanted to be your little girl

Tried to fight the morbid memories

Wish I was like the others

Living through their fantasies

Cry my pain into the soft lines

Of my plump checks

Swollen from the bruise

My prince charming was scorned

Daddy why did you disappear

The man left behind

Was a husk

Compared to you

A monster behind the mask

A scary thing

Purity tainted by the looks

Virtue no longer valued

A scar was all that was left

From that day

My daddy issues

Now roll over into trust issues

Keep everyone at a distance

Too afraid

To even make a sound

Who would ever believe

The tales of a sad girl

With silly daddy issues

Who just wanted to be a part of something new

Live in a world where self pity can't follow

Where can the little girl run to

A scar that continues to seep away values

Trust issues turned into baggage

Luggage to heavy to carry for most

So this little girl hides these issues

Smile the brightest smile ever known

The world only sees what she shows

Will the time come

When I can bury these emotions

Say goodbye

To my daddy issues
