Dad

Grief

By Vicki LucasPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

So this was written by me for my Dads funeral. It’s the first time that I’ve been able to re read it, thought I’d share for anyone going through similar, stay strong. I don’t know how, but we must. X

DAD

We will miss your smile every day

And some days such a lot

We’ll miss your sense of humour

You’ll never be forgot

We’ll miss you whilst we’re shopping

We’ll miss you whilst we sit

We’ll miss you when we’re sleeping

We’ll miss you quite a bit

But missing you won’t bring you back

We know because we tried

And nor will tears that fall from us

We know because we’ve cried

Our hearts will break a thousand times

From things we see and do

All sorts of things will re-ignite

The pain of losing you

Life has many parts to it

And this, it was but one

And although this one is over

Another has begun

We really must put trust in knowing

There’s a better place out there

One with Nan and Grandad in

One day we’ll see you there

But for now goodbye our hero

Goodbye a piece of us

You’ll always live within our hearts

Goodbye the Dad we love
