Dad

A birthday present for my dad

The things he has taught me I’ll never forget, How to be respected, stay humble and never to fret, To be generous, kind and to remain dignified, And that sometimes it’s necessary to swallow your pride.

He’s shown me to give all that you can, As we know life rarely goes to plan, It’s important to show that you care, And to know that true friends will always be there.

My patience has been tested over the years, With arguments, fights and plenty of tears, What remains is love and never a grudge, As he has taught me never to judge.

These life lessons are part of me today, I apologise for the times I’ve been led astray, So thank you dad for all that you’ve done, I’m certain our memories have only just begun.
