The other shoe fell again.

The penny dropped.

I don't know why I keep

expecting things to change

when things keep turning to rot.

--

I feel life is just one big gut punch

when I keep expecting the best.

I see now that there is no rainbow

at the end of this horror filled quest.

--

Maybe I'm just old and tired.

I did my part though and I

kept on hoping for a win

until it was down to the wire.

--

I'm numb and this election, I

think, it broke me in two.

I had my heart set on Kamala

and now I don't know what to do.

--

Will I lose my Medicare?

Will I lose my Disability?

If so, what in the world

will end up happening to me?

--

Why do so many people choose

hate over love when the world

would turn so much better with

a soft touch than with an iron glove.

--

I'm lost. I'm just so down and sad

I feel I keep losing everything

good that I ever had.

--

It sucks to be old and alone

and watch the world turned up ended

knowing what could be done

if only people wanted things to

be mended.

--

But hate and disharmony seems to

drive those in charge of our great land.

I've no place to hid, no place to run

even if I could I can't.

--

This poem doesn't even rhyme anymore

because I can't arsed to do it.

Where's my freedom and liberty gone

I woke and it was gone before I knew it.

Your feelings are echoed by so many in the US. Women are genuinely frightened of what is happening over there and rightly so. I loved the part of your poem where you spoke of people not choosing kindness, I couldn't have said it better. Well written, well done!

There are many in the world who are concerned. Hugs.

  • I'm still in shock and in denial. Loved your poem!

I’m feeling the same, Sam. I do have my theories of why he won but when I air them out people think I’m just paranoid. He is not screaming the election was rigged because he knows it was rigged for him by Putin.
