Cruel Silence

acrostic lament

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Silence fills the space that should contain fatherly advice

It is not fair the world took you from me when it did, I was not ready

Lost in this world ever since, lost without you to hold my hand

Even today, so many years later I find I need you, but you’re not here

Never got to show you me, ‘Hi dad, I’m your daughter,’ I should have said

Could you have still loved me? Would you? Or would I have been that son?

Extra time is what I needed, less of this silence, and more of you in my life

Ugh.. right in the feels. Gosh and that last line just delivers the final blow. What a poem.
