Crossroads
When we moved across the little creek,
I saw it as a river,
but now, there’s an ocean between us
I miss my dad
I wonder what our lives would have been
If I had stayed.
But I had to go.
You encourage me to go
And live my life.
Now I return, after years,
To reunite with my dad.
You have the doll with you.
The one I gave you before I left
And we have all memories we lived
in the same house.
The room where you told me to go,
And the room I said I would miss you
The room where my mom cried
And the front yard she cried when I returned.
Now where I live,
I look outside the window
And I remember you Dad,
How you were
And how you took care of me.
I cross the creek that I saw as a river,
And now I can cross it anytime
There’s not a ocean on this earth
That can separate me from our memories
And our lives.
