Crossing Those Lines

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 months ago 2 min read

(Verse 1)

Well, they tell you where to stand, they draw their little lines,

Sayin’ stay on your side, don’t be messin’ with the signs.

But I’m not one for fences, no, I was born to roam,

You can keep your boundaries, I’ll make my own way home.

(Chorus)

You can waste your life drawing lines,

Play it safe, play it nice, live within confines.

Or you can live your life crossing them wide,

I’ll take my chances, let my spirit ride.

A heart on fire, I’ll break away,

Crossing those lines, come what may!

(Verse 2)

They say it’s just a game, don’t go rockin’ the boat,

But I see a wide open sea, and I’m ready to float.

No more hesitation, I’ll chase what feels right,

With every step I take, I’m reaching for the light.

(Chorus)

You can waste your life drawing lines,

Play it safe, play it nice, live within confines.

Or you can live your life crossing them wide,

I’ll take my chances, let my spirit ride.

A heart on fire, I’ll break away,

Crossing those lines, come what may!

(Bridge)

So raise a glass to the dreamers, living life out loud,

To the ones who break the rules and make their own crowd.

We’re not afraid to wander, to dance in the rain,

With our boots on the ground, we’ll never be the same.

(Chorus)

You can waste your life drawing lines,

Play it safe, play it nice, live within confines.

Or you can live your life crossing them wide,

I’ll take my chances, let my spirit ride.

A heart on fire, I’ll break away,

Crossing those lines, come what may!

(Outro)

So let ‘em mark their territory, let ‘em stake their claim,

But I’ll be out there dancing and playing the wild game.

You can waste your life drawing lines,

Or you can live your life crossing them every time!
