Cried Wolf, a story that's oft told,
Of a shepherd, who was crafty and bold,
With his tricks, he raised the alarm,
But in the end, caused great harm.
For he cried wolf, when there was none,
And the villagers, raced to help, one by one,
But each time, they found, it was just a game,
And their trust, he had put to shame.
And so it went, until one day,
A real wolf came, and chased the sheep away,
But the villagers, with weary hearts,
Didn't believe, their cries and darts.
The wolf took its toll, and caused much grief,
And the shepherd, was left with nothing but his disbelief,
For he had cried wolf, so many times,
That no one believed him, when the wolf's cries.
So the lesson is clear, for all to see,
Don't cry wolf, unless there's danger to be,
For trust is a fragile thing, once broken,
It's hard to regain, even with words spoken.
