Keeping a journal is kind of like writing poetry.
Although the words may not rhyme sometimes,
they always find a way to chronicle your journey.
Painstakingly, pen and ink make better memories I think.
Even plain black lettering scrawled on blank white pages
can convey colorful imagery, and make rubes seem sages.
Keeping a journal isn't a novel idea.
People have kept them for centuries.
They're windows into the past; peepholes to their souls.
The ordinary mundane lives of authors,
most unworthy of publication,
are perserved for posterity.
Once cathartic scribblings can survive and take wing;
uncaged by curious relatives throughout the ages.
