Cravings I Cannot Have: SILENCE
Have you ever received a "No" from someone?... -while you were so desperately wanting, needing, craving, a "Yes"
Up on the very high top of this very long list
of things I crave, but have not been permitted to me,
SILENCE.
Through every night and day I make the same wish
and unlike the others that spill from me
this one, is not so dangerous, but...
apparently some simple time of quiet is too much to ask for‐
Where or what is peace when the world won't shut the hell up?...
I'm not asking for absence
I'm just asking for quietness‐
What am I to think when my own mind attacks me?...
I almost wish my heart would do the same,
that I may be forever relieved of this commotion...
as there is a storm inside, and outside, a flood
and no freedom anywhere in sight‐
As much as I hate seeing my requests repeatedly denied...
I continue push my prayers up to the God of all compassion,
even if this craving...
SILENCE‐
continues to exist on the list of those I cannot have.
