Crashing Moon

And a little bit of madness.

Burn me at sunset and dance around the flames!

Bind my hands, no in fact, rip them off.

Make this escape the greatest feat of magic

That dared to flutter its butterfly wings

In any fool's lunatic mind.

.

Damn, drape me in the clouds saturated with the blood

Of this sanguine sunset draining the last of the sun.

I am hungry to dance in the sun's cloak

Beneath the fresh light of a blue moon

Hurtling back into Mother's arms.

.

The moon is crashing down tonight,

Ripped out of the black eyes of the night as though

It didn't hurt to lose the twinkle of madness.

I will swallow this falling moon like a pill,

Open my gullet, brace, and do like good boys do.

.

There is no longer any hiding from this lunacy,

This brand stamped across my chest in shimmering,

Holographic runes carved in moonlight

That spell out an ancient word, nyctophile.

Pluck the lonely tune on the guitar.

.

I never believed the moon would touch the rose

Seated upon my desk like a throne.

So mourn with me, the loss of lunar light

As the thorns sigh and settle into my thin skin,

Grieve the sanguine puddle soaking into the grass.

.

I want to be a moth with night sky eyes,

Crouched underneath pale petals,

Watching the moon occupy more of the sky.

Smoke and mirrors mean nothing to a god descending.

So I want to be a moth to sleep underneath the moon.

.

Fuck, let me hurl myself at the moon!

I am here in the shadow of the oak, yearning.

How I wish to be thrown into the moon,

Smack hard into its side in some sort of embrace,

And leave my mark on the sky like a sick lover.

Sizzling, sensual and out of this small world into the cosmos with Luna. BRILLIANCE!

From one devout nyctophile to another, this is very well-wrought; I think "I want to be a moth with night sky eyes," is an especially lapidary line.
