Cradling my Shadows
A sonnet
By Natasha CollazoPublished 4 months ago • Updated 3 months ago • 1 min read

All that I’ve written holds both dark and light,
For without night, the sun cannot arrive,
The cavernous depths revealed the swords of my mind,
And in their ache, the celestial truths align.
I’ve borne the sorrow, felt its harsh divide,
And kept my vigil where the guarded sheep rest.
I’ve roamed the silent spaces of my pride,
And let the night’s embrace cradle my chest.
I cannot fathom those who sip the sun,
Yet never drink the night from which it breathes.
To write of joy alone leaves work undone;
Only at night does all creation scream.
I’ve met the night, and cherished all it brings,
And only thus do all my lines take wings.

I’m trying to wrap my mind around how to attempt writing a Sonnet… this is so beautiful and true!💖
Beautifully put sonnet to the sunless hours and celebration of all that night implies
Oooo, sip the sun, that was brilliant. Loved your poem!
