COVID Nation
COVID hit us really hard
Not knowing what to do
Growing children had been marred
While jobs shut down on que
People hoarding, hiding their stash
After running through a store
Families now low on cash
A nation feeling sore.
The world had flipped upside-down
In homes there was dismay
A smile, now a common frown
In youth; no longer play
Food is now a drive-through line
Unless you cook at home
“Wear your mask!” Is on a sign,
If ever you should roam.
Parents wanting their kids in school
Our youth so unprepared,
All day at home seems so cruel
But everyone’s so scared.
Nurses labor at the side
Someone they did not know
Tears shedding, nowhere to hide
Another soul to go
Your face now wrapped in a mask
No traveling allowed
Seemingly an easy task
Try to avoid the crowd
Nightly news, shedding light
“It’s spreading like a fire”
Stay in doors to find delight
The situation’s dire!”
But in this country, held so dear
A spark of hope still shined.
Pushing ahead through the fear
A vaccine was designed!
That little buggar hiding low
Does not stand a chance!
As a nation we will grow
No more happenstance.
A little poke is all you get-
Maybe even two.
It’s ok, so they say, don’t fret
The nurse will see you through!
Some still fear and are unsure
To be human is okay
We are working on a cure
To again, enjoy the day.
