Countdown of Perspective

A poem

When I first looked above my bed

there were 3 spiders at the ceiling’s edge,

each the size of my palm.

They didn’t bother me so much,

and I guess I didn’t worry them. Until

I look up again and there are

2. This Houdini act…

where the heck did the 1st one go?

It makes me think of how

itchy my hair feels,

like someone’s tapping across

my scalp, looking for a break

between 2 roots to sink

in eager fangs. I know that’s too

anthropomorphic an attribution

for an arachnid, but I still wonder

when I close my lids and taste the world

through the 3rd sight of my dreams:

how does this life-changing moment look

when blinking 8 eyes?

Ahh, I hate when spiders to that and suddenly I start to itch in the weirdest places. You described it so well.
