Cosmic Dreams Collide

I gave my dreams

to the night sky

for safe keeping

and they fell into

the stars

like glitter

shaken from the hem

of a tulle prom dress

fancy-free and forgotten.

-

I thought the universe

was the only place

large enough to hold

their breadth,

cradled in it's ever-expanding

galaxies,

a dancefloor where they could

twirl, and twist, and bend

tap-dancing through infinite time.

-

I watch for meteors

with childlike sighs

I thought maybe

my dreams were returning to me

but in all of my star-gazing

and searching for those

long lost gems

I never found them

like a wedding ring

that had been tossed

into the deepest parts

of the sea

-

So, I surrendered my heart

to the celestial heavens

shouting

"here is all of me!"

and my dreams greeted me

like a long lost lover

in their twinkling star gowns.

as we danced on silver moonbeams

hand in hand

we burst into luminous light

that brightened

every corner of

cold, dark, space

and the universe whispered

"my dear,

did you not know that you

have always been

a star"
