Cornflower Orphan

A Sonnet

By D. J. ReddallPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Why did you choose me, saucy silk stranger?!

Do you have any idea what a creep

Just looking makes me? I'm in real danger!

Has your oblivious owner lost sleep?

I already have; think of the scandal:

"Aging Local Nerd Turns Laundry Pervert!"

I cannot this mishap mishandle;

Shall I simply my silly eyes avert?

Surely, chivalry demands a rescue

A quick, officious trip to lost and found

I am, of course, reluctant to touch you

For fear some stranger will an alarm sound

The weird tyranny of abandoned things

Into each life, some complex puzzles brings

Sonnet

    This is amusing, but I can imagine the discomfort. Should be okay, so long as don't start sniffing it. 😁

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but does your poem mean that there's a creepy old pervert at the laundry place? Also, what does cornflower orphan mean?
