Bones Afire

bones afire

Begging for the coolness of ash

Smeared boldly on the face of the defeated

Bravely tired

As we prepare the race to be completed

bones afire

Longing to rise and flit upon the breeze

Such yearning draws falling, to find my knees

A funeral pyre

A sacrament to celebrate release

bones afire

Longing for the first of what’s to come

Healing appears in many different forms

A wild fire

To cleanse the heart with power of the sun

bones afire

Begging to evolve and start a final run

Knowing now, we’ve only just begun

Spirit for hire

The ending a beginning, never done

bones afire

Resignation brings a gentle peace

A satisfying end of bits of me

A holy mire

Salvation emerges from a sacred place

bones afire

Begging for the coolness of ash

Fire has also been known to be cleansing with certain topics that affect society at times. Good job.

The imagery here is so vivid, Kelli. Reinforces the idea of the trial by fire as an endless cycle...and the imagery lends the effect superbly. Well, well done.
