Cooking Is Also a Wonderful Therapy
A set of Haikus for those dirty dishes
So much stuff to do
Mindful cooking really helps
Taking out the stress
---
Preparing the food
Expecting family joy
Enjoying at once
---
Recipes fly by
New cuisines come to your mind
Trying this or that
---
Cutting the tension
Peeling your stress far away
Seasoning the joy
---
Colors all around
Imagining the textures
All the aromas
---
Creating flavors
Bring something new here and there
Sweetness and spicy
---
So many bad times
But not while you are cooking
A hobby you like
---
What to take, to add?
Experiment, this or that
Having fun, playing
---
I know that for many people, cooking is just another tedious task. But what if you add purpose to it? What if you consider the importance that you are preparing something that you will have inside of your body? This has to be a mindful activity.
For me, cooking is a process where I get to be creative, to think outside the box so I can cater to my tastebuds and I have always liked to play with colors. Who says that food can only be appreciated by one sense? Have you ever had the opportunity to feel that something tastes amazing just by looking at it?
In many cultures, dinner can also be the synonym of family time. Everyone gets to chime in and help. It doesn’t matter the age, everybody can help in so many ways. You can build a stronger relationship with your mother, father, brothers, or with your partner.
And even if the most tedious part is washing the dishes, you can turn this into a positive matter. It all depends on your way of thinking.
So I think we can cherish this process even more.
