A Poem

How do I look from the outside?

Is my smile as strained as it feels?

My vibe is off, which is right,

But the words won’t come - it’s too real.

How do I challenge without accelerating

How do I scream while I choke

My blood boils at the thought of your righteousness

But something else is missing from your thoughts.

I do not like the sharp points of your comments

I lose the choice of my voice every day

It might be healthy talking to release

But everything I feel is locked away.

I am not here to apologise

I have more than enough to believe.

Even if everything you say is smothering me,

At least I'm still standing upright.
