Leaving the travail of spring, summer’s come.
We shift May behind, full of rainy days
with the approval of a happy sun.
Early, we rise to keep the heat at bay—
A walk around the park reveals much growth:
The flowers are budding beneath the sky—
like the fulfillment of a lover’s oath,
summer’s light promises to beautify.
We take another lap; the geese appear,
a gregarious group, they eat as one.
My eyes take in scenes my heart holds as dear,
A watchful mother gazes at her son .
This morning everything seems to converge
Love in the light gives us right to emerge.
