Contrast

The riddle of color

By Kate WestPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

It's what fades

Frozen in the shade

Of the great cloud above you

It's what you lost

When you stopped painting

Landscapes unseen

It's what is missing

In your cheeks and eyes

And in the room where no light shines

But

When you get up

Open the blinds

To sunlight

Dear sunshine

You're free

And

When you see

It's what you can't describe

To those who have been blind

All of their lives

It shifts and spins

It changes things

From solemn silence

From black and white

To vibrant conversation

To summer delight

It is the bright beacon

Gifted by heavens above

It is the hope

When your whole world floods
