I know what I am
I am strong
I am confident
I can snap your bones like twigs
I can leave you limp and writhing
No, I am not a street fighter
If you saw me, you’d think I was a joke
But I am a fighter
I do not compete
I have no desire for a shiny belt around my waist
I fight with a spirit I wear behind my face
Some say if I get in the zone,
I have the eye of the tiger
Speed, stealth, and fire
Burning with a passion within, an ongoing mystery
They say I am a shadow warrior
That I can bend within the darkness, remaining silent and feline
I can slay with words from my tongue that is a double-edged sword
Sometimes though, it’s silence that wins
When people call me pretty
Or that my eyes are bewitching
I am not fooled,
I am no victim of the lies
Yes, people are loving, sensitive, and kind
However, they can be very cruel
Playing the strings of your heart
Damaging your mind
In the valley of death, I find strength through Him
I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me
But the hardest part of being strong is that everyone can see
Seldom would they think to ask if anything was bothering me
Bearing deadweight is the worst of them all
You may think it’s silly, or get mad about the truth
But even the lion looks up to a starry sky
Asking about the circle of life
Yes, there is a consequence to strength
It’s the shock on their face
When they see the weary lion take its final rest in the cave
We all have our limits
We are all battling our own demons
Eventually the river runs dry
There’s no more fuel, no fire to ignite
Yet no one can see that deadness,
You’re zombified face disguised
Because the ones who bare strength
Refuse to lie on their face
They keep looking up to the eyes of their fate
Yes, there is a consequence to strength

You are a strong soul, indeed!
As a Christian myself, I love this poem!
Wow! This was intense and beautiful. Consequences for strength, I hear that!
