Connection

no lost souls

By Tiffany Grace RoskeyPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read
the tent home my dad build for me in his trees

I woke up in my broken car

and went to the cold beach.

Waiting for the sun,

A fox walked by me.

It stopped and looked back,

straight into my eyes.

Full moon by our sun,

I prayed for a sign.

That night, I did not stay.

Under the trees.

Or-

In a driveway.

My dad wrote me that day

as I wandered the streets.

When I got to a wifi

I seen he'd contacted me.

We met up

and he brought me some things.

It was too much to carry and

I had to. come. true.

The tent's all I wanted,

away from the bugs.

Now that it's spring,

they're all coming up.

Blue eyes to blue eyes

we hugged.

He called me 20 minutes later,

just after he left.

Asked me to stay with him.

To be safe and to rest.

I said yes

Later he told me

about his strange dream,

the one where my mom visits him.

Same morning I prayed.

A couple years later,

ten days.. before.. my dad died.

My mom told me he'd be leaving,

..to the other side.

We were just talking,

like old times.

Then in my dream I remember,

it's been five years, since she's died.

We talked for a while,

we laughed and cried.

She told me some things about my life,

that with denial I hide.

Upon awakening I didn't call him.

I. just. wrote.

I told him that I love him,

and I let his sisters know.

..They overlooked the point.

And

..he never. read. my. note.

Strange lucid dreams,

my guide, my soul.

About the Creator

Tiffany Grace Roskey

A blank piece of paper, or so I may seem.

No one is perfect, except in ones dream.

A dream is as deceptive, as you perceive it to be

Yet a persons indifference, from what you believe

Is no more shapeable, than structured is a dream.~TGRoskey
