Confused Hues

A poem of self discovery

By Jill Langin (she/her)Published 5 years ago 1 min read

I'm explosive

Drawn to the color red, I am often illogical and sensitive

And I know my emotional outbursts can be difficult to forgive

I am fluid

Like the orange burst in a sunrise, I am always unpredictable

My ever changing personality protects me when things become dull

I'm a Virgo

Represented by the color green, I'm described as a perfectionist

When I'd become easily frustrated, nobody ever questioned this

I am withdrawn

Pulled toward the blue of the ocean, I've attempted to numb my senses

Being easily overwhelmed regularly left me defenseless

I'm an Empath

With feelings rich as indigo, I am hyper aware of others' needs

Yet I am blind to the toxins that this usually accompanies

I'm a woman

Blaming myself for lack of progress, nothing has ever come easily

Now learning the true culprit, I understand that I have ADHD
