Coming of an age

I’m taking time to tell you

My fellow human beings

That we are coming of an age

That’s ripped apart at seams

We see these movies warning us

The stories that can’t be true

Apocalypse and no control

Governments turn code-blue

The gates go up

Morales go down

And history’s erased

The mistakes that we could learn from

Forgotten without a trace

And each short generation

Less than 90 or 100 years

Can turn the path of planet earth

For better or for worse

So buckle up and open wide

Just swallow down the truth

That every individual

Must fight it foot and tooth

That integrity and moral ware

Are less common than it seems

We talk of great enlightenment

But we act like greedy fiends

Our senses lost

The gut feel dead

Our feelings numb and blind

We forget that All our purpose

Is to live in the greatness

Preserve earth for all time

For our children and their children

For air that’s sweet to breathe

For random flowers thanks to bees

And swimmable oceans and our seas

But life has become

a mundane autopilot

Of convenience and ease

Until boom there’s a riot

An opportunity thank god

To express how I feel

Confusing but knowing

That the soul needs to heal.

And the world Hoovers still

Emotions flow free

But the shamed lack direction

Seems pointless you see

For we all agree on one thing

That we want our kid’s to thrive

To smile feel love and laugh

And we want that feeling inside

We all get so selfish

concerned with this path

Loosing sight of the world

All the beauty be had

Too many distractions

Such heart breaking news

There’s always been evil

But there’s always good too.

And it takes the individual

A pure shining heart of gold

Be selfless kind and loving

And the truth an easy behold.

So Clean your conscience

Forgive yourself

Acknowledge all your worth

Plant a tree

and inhale guilt free

Releasing all your hurt

Just be your best

In this very second

For time is fleeting by

Keep positive vibes

And take change with grace

And roll with the changing of tides.
