An Ode to Bedding

Comforter, how well fits the name

Swaddling me in a soft embrace

Loyally there upon my wake

Except in the times that I kick you aside

Patterned in foilage, green and yellow

Orange, too, serene and mellow

Across my form, head to pillow

Guiding me to sleep, like moon to tide

So often do I take for granted

Your soft cotton from seeds planted

On cold nights I am enchanted

But fail year-round to be so kind

I hope this reaches you before nightfall

And fully encapsulates your enthrall

Or perhaps I'll forget again, after all

As sleep consumes my mind...
