Coma

Poem

By Desmond RazzanoPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

You can talk to me and I will hear you, as my eyes have been closed for what seemed like forever.

You’d think I’m dead, but things aren’t what they appear to, so don’t tell me your name because I won’t remember.

Why the long face? There’s a certain lift about me.

I need my own space, but don’t forget about me.

What’s that aroma? It takes me back to yesterday, I smell them.

I’ve been in a coma and I’ve tried not to overstay my welcome.

You’re a shock in my system, yeah the seizure of my episode.

My love knows no distance and my nerves need your methadone.

There’s only one of me with more than one persona.

Only one place to be, and that’s in a coma.

I’ve overdosed and blackened my brain out.

I’m comatose and silence my days down.

Red roses and thorns inside my veins now.

Neuro-Distortion, now that’s my new playground.

Hospital bed vacancy, I should lower my dosage.

I lay here impatiently with drained oxytocin.

My coma has opened my eyes wide.

I’m stuck frozen all at the same time.

I’ve only seen blackness when the sky was clear blue.

You can pray to your God on the times he won’t hear you.

A coma I have been given, but I do not recall.

You can't wrap the mind around a religion, so I’ve shed my ego like it’s a free-fall.

Hold my hand through the worst kinds of pain because it won’t last forever.

If you don’t know loss, you will never know gain.

Is it just me or is it us together?

Disease, it grows like neuroma.

Immune system keeps catching pneumonia.

My brain awakens from its own coma.

Bottoms up! Fill my cup with ammonia, I black out.

Time is up! Knock me out like you’re Sonya ’til I’m back down.
