Colours of the rainbow

That stand alive with pride for everyone

Now that the rain has gone, glistening rays of colours are shone

Proud, beautiful, loud and bright, Colours that stand with pride and fight

For justice, equality and human rights, now we can hold hands through the day and night

Get married or have children and live our lives, that’s all we want, the same equal rights

More than just a festival or some drag, for those who question our colours of flag

Diversity is represented throughout our rainbow, allowing for us all... a better tomorrow

Colours whereby we know we’re safe, Some of us coming out to embrace

Who we are in life, work, friends and family... I’m gay! ... an awkward silence passes through time “what will they say?”

Do you still love me for who I am? Or in my face will the door be slammed?

The colours of our rainbow represent so true, Red, green, purple, yellow and blue

A home is found within the community, Where love is represented in peace and unity

And together we echo that love is love where we express ourselves, With no fear of being judged or compelled

Into pretending that we’re someone else, Just to please others that live in stealth

Finally our identity and personalities are reclaimed, no more do we live in guilt nor shame

Now that the rain has gone, Colours of the rainbow stand alive with pride for everyone.
